I always like to start with the updates and what’s happening behind the scenes.
First, I was on another podcast.
This one was with Tom Sullivan, it is called Lemon Wedge. We had a great discussion and funny enough probably ran into each other before.
I get very vulnerable in this episode. If you want to learn more about the future of Rocketship Jobs, this is a good one to listen to.
If you want a quick way to learn more about what we spoke about, check out this thread by Tom.
Also, last week we had 3 people join Premium Rockets. With that, they receive
Update to the Rockets
Ok, I will be the first to say this Tweet is a little vague but it says a lot. It seems like Mainstreet just raised some more money. It hasn’t been announced yet but that's what my money is on. If I were you I would reach out now before the competition for their jobs gets even more competitive. Their website says they are hiring for a remote Senior Backend Engineer but I would be they have more openings that are not yet on the website.
Potentially a Rocket...
The companies are all now being added to the Rocketship Jobs database.
OnDeck - An online community for builders of the future. It reminds me of a General Assembly but for creators rather than employees.
I like the idea of this company and the team involved with it. Erik Torenberg is one of the Co-Founders and someone that I use as a filter when it comes to finding interesting companies. That said, I don’t quite see how OnDeck becomes a rocketship but I do want to continue to pay attention.
They announced that they raised $3M on August 27th so I will continue to follow their trajectory and keep you posted. Today they are hiring in Operations, Marketing, and Product. All of the positions are remote.
Levels - Tacks your blood glucose in real-time so you can maximize your diet and exercise.
Fitness is booming right now. Levels is attacking the fitness space but in a new way and I like it.
The physical product plus software works well in Fitness as we have seen from products like Peleton and Mirror.
My big question with Levels is how they separate themselves from the inevitable competition. Today it doesn’t exist but if the business starts to work, they will. I guess time will tell.
In the meantime, they are hiring for a Head of Marketing/ Growth. This position is remote.
Retool - NoCode / Low Code Internal Tool maker.
I saw this tweet earlier this week and figured it was a good time to share this company. I have been following them for a while but haven’t shared it here yet.
I like Retool for the exact reason stated above.
The path to $1B business is pretty straightforward for this company. The opportunity is huge but as always execution is the hurdle. The CEO is young and from my knowledge. That’s not a negative but it’s also not a positive. Time will tell in that regard.
They are currently hiring in Customer Success, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Support. All of the positions are in San Francisco.
CommonStock - A Social Network for the Investment Community
This company is essentially the WallStreetBets subreddit in company form.
Social Media will eventually niche down. There will be different social media platforms for different groups. We already see Groups becoming the powerhouse of Facebook, soon those groups will evolve into their own social media platforms. CommonStock is a great example of that.
The stats of WallStreetBets is a great example of the potential success they can have.

Oh yea, and they raised $9.7M in seed funding last week. They’re hiring for positions in Engineering, Product, and Design.
