I have been thinking a lot about Rocketship Jobs.
Every week I try to give you a highlight of a new company that I believe can be a Rocketship.
The problem is one day I will run out of companies that actually fits that description.
There will always be interesting companies but that doesn’t mean the opportunity in front of them is Rocketship level.
So far, I think I have done a good job at making sure I hold the standard but as time goes on that will become increasingly difficult.
I promise to continue to do my best to give you a new company every week, today included but I am also going to add a bit to the script.
Maybe a Rocket....
This section is to tell you about other opportunities.
The companies featured here may one day get a feature on Rocketship Jobs, they may not.
The point is to introduce you to more opportunities.
The idea is, a company can be later stage or not have the opportunity to become a billion-dollar company in the next few years but still be valuable.
You can learn a lot, work with interesting people and potentially change your life.
First up is:
I like Coda. They were a company I was going to feature on Rocketship Jobs. They're now a little too late stage. I try to focus on companies before they receive their Series C. They are still a great opportunity for people. They are hiring in Engineering, Growth, Go To Market, Product and Design. Positions are in San Francisco, Seattle and Remote.
I like the idea behind Mux. Video is growing. APIs are taking over the internet. They’re still very small, only 61 employees but they’re at their Series C now. They'll never get a feature for the same reason as Coda but they look interesting. They are hiring in Engineering, Operations, Recruiting and Sales. All of these positions are in San Francisco except Engineering that also has remote and London opportunities.
The Hustle is one of my favorite companies. They will probably never be a billion-dollar company but they are growing fast and you will for sure learn a lot about business working there.
I am not sure what positions they are hiring for but Steph, Sam and the rest of the team are pretty accessible on Twitter.
They are hiring a;
This position is exciting to me because it is to be the first Marketing at this company.
A few statements from their post that stood out to me are:
As the first marketing hire, you are responsible for driving awareness, leads, and acquisition. The role emphasizes metrics and work across disciplines. It does require SEO/SEM chops, as well as a knack for understanding the material that engages developers.
You’re the first marketing hire, so you’ll work across product marketing, content marketing, audience segmentation, messaging, demand generation and more. You put together the strategy, and then do it. As a heads-up, short-term needs include the website, sales enablement material and SEO & analytics platform work.
We don’t care if you went to college. We do care that you know how to think and write, and will ask for writing samples.
You can be anywhere in the US/Canada. If you have a track record of working remote, we are willing to consider other time zones.
We have firm salary bands plus equity, which are transparent and based on years of experience. $120,000 - $190,000, with $190k being our top band for 10+ years with significant lead experience. We evaluate experience relative to the experience of the other members of our team. (For example, our senior engineers have 10+ years experience.)

Update to the Rockets
Finix is a company that we have written about before. This is great news. I still believe in this business tremendously.
I will be adding this to my Ripple write up but in the meantime, if you want to continue to learn more about Ripple, check it out.
I don’t know this guy but I like him.
I think he’s a great follow on Twitter if you’re trying to think of creative ways to break into amazing companies.
